29th Annual Tree of Light Ceremony: A Collective Community Grief Response

Presented by Gulfstream

A virtual memorial gathering you can watch live on this page, Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.

To date, there has been no global, national or local collective grief response to the loss we have all experienced this year. And because of the coronavirus, you may have been denied attending traditional funerals and gatherings this year. Join us here, on this page on December 6 as our Full Circle grief counselors provide rituals, music and healing tools to comfort you and your loved ones.

Tree of Light supports anyone in the community dealing with the death of a loved one, or had a loved one die from the virus.  A special tribute will honor the lives of Arnold and Lorlee Tenenbaum in gratitude for their commitment to our community. Arnold and Lorlee were amongst the very first deaths from Covid-19 locally.

Mayor Van Johnson will speak at the virtual gathering, and inspirational music will be performed by professional singers from across the globe in partnership with the Savannah VOICE Festival.  Names of those recognized with a donation in their honor or memory will scroll throughout the forty-five minute gathering, and a moment of prayer will be provided by leaders from various faith groups in our community. (Read the names honored with a gift here.)  Additionally, images of your loved ones can be shown if received by Thanksgiving (email pictures to events@HospiceSavannah.org ).

As always, we are indebted to many generous corporate sponsors. Read their names here. Sponsorships and donations allow our Full Circle bereavement counselors to continue offering grief support to any child, teen or adult in our community at no cost. All donors receive a commemorative ornament and donors who make gifts of $1,000 or above  will be contacted by the Foundation to place a brass leaf on the Tree of Remembrance at Hospice House or at the Demere Center for Living.

Because of your generosity, no one need  face loss alone.

Tree of Light will be followed up by a second virtual resource, Voices that Heal, on December 15 to further provide tools to learn to live with grief.
