There are a number of U Tube videos and TED Talks regarding the “Death over Dinner” phenomenon which tries to normalize advance care planning; those important discussions we need to have with our loved ones about our wishes should we be in a car accident, and become unable to speak for ourselves, or be diagnosed with a serious or terminal condition. The video link below made an impact for me– what are my 90 years old mother’s expectations? What would my husband’s wishes be? Do you even know what kind of medical interventions and care you would want if you were in a coma and unable to speak?

I encourage you to take some time to view this video and hopefully get inspired to take action.  Our annual lecture series speaker, Dr. Thomas Smith will speak to these issues during our upcoming community lecture taking place this Friday. There are only a few seats available so call today – 912.298.0313 to RSVP.  Also,  our community outreach staff and volunteers are happy to present an Advance Care Planning and Advance Directives workshop at your church, civic group or place of workshop. Just call Sarah at 912.629.1045.
