Santa-with-employees-2012As we prepare to leave the holiday season and enter a new year, I’d like to thank the many friends of Hospice Savannah for their support and generosity.

I think of volunteer Ruth Pauley who bought and delivered turkey dinners to patients and families in Port Wentworth, Bloomingdale and Savannah; of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Futch (aka Santa and Mrs. Claus), our mascot Henry the Hospice Savannah Hound and music volunteer Jim Stettler for sharing their love and talents at Hospice House; of volunteer Pam Phillips who donated a new typewriter to an elderly patient so he can type up his many inventions; of the friends and family of patient Robbie Smith who for the 10th consecutive year raised more than 5,000 dollars at a golf outing in Robbie’s honor; and I think of our own employees who generously gathered hundreds of toiletries for the homeless in our community.

We are our brother’s keeper and I am honored to work for an organization that lives out this maxim every day. A Happy New Year to one and all!
