iby-betty-foran-4As we honor veterans who have died in the line of duty this Memorial Day, let’s not forget that more than 1,800 Veterans die every day in this country.  We  feel it is essential to provide care and support to help veterans live as fully as possible during their final days, long after their military service may have ended.

Oliver-009Through our Veterans Initiative  we are working with area veteran organizations to enhance and strengthen end-of-life and grief services provided to our area veterans and their families. Our storykeeper Suzi and volunteer photographer Les Wilkes were honored to accompany some of these heroes on the latest Honor Flight to Washington DC. Click here to read Suzi’s reflections on that visit.

The number of veterans needing care is growing and Hospice Savannah will play a leadership role in helping these Americans find the peace and compassionate care they deserve.   I wish to extend thanks to all veterans for their sacrifices.  Have you thanked a veteran lately?
